Support Services Enginer (IT Interest)

Job Summary:
Provide field and phone engineering support, either individually or in a team environment, to customers on Control Automation Systems, Data Interoperability and Visibility Systems, and Manufacturing Execution Systems. Conduct on-site support calls on both a scheduled and non-scheduled (emergency) basis.
Essential Functions:
· Provide engineering support, via phone and/or site visit, on a breakdown (emergency) or preventative maintenance basis.
· Apply Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming.
· Perform assessments and gap analysis, individually or in a team environment, on industrial facilities to determine what is needed to maintain systems and processes. Assessment to include manufacturing systems, network structure, and process flow.
· Write a detailed assessment report including system inventory, process, and recommendations.
· Catalog and maintain all documentation required to service and support each client’s automated processes.
· Communicate with internal management and customers regarding issue/case resolution status. Log case activity in internal CMMS system for customer viewing.
· Identify “value-engineering” opportunities for development projects.
· Deliver refresher/follow up training to customer operators and technicians on new or modified systems, portal, and/or CMMS system.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Regular and routine logging/updating of work orders in CMMS application.
· Identify technical risks and sales opportunities in assigned work.
· Implement many of the Avanceon standards.
· Work flexible hours as needed to meet client needs.
· Problem solve as needed.
· Assist Service Manager in recruiting skilled personnel as needed.
Required Skills & Abilities:
· Low to mid-level PLC programming experience.
· Strong troubleshooting ability.
· Strong customer relation skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong computer skills.
· Good documentation and organization skills.
· Ability to work on multiple tasks and/or projects with minimal supervision.
· Speak, read, and write fluently in English.
· Valid driver’s license and current personal auto insurance.
· Valid, usable credit card for field expenses.
Desired Skills: An interest in learning the following or;
· Mid to high-level IT infrastructure experience. · Mid to high-level VB and/or .NET programming experience.
· Mid to high-level SQL Server experience
· Programming experience with any MES System a plus.
· Programming experience with Siemens Simatic IT or Invensys Archestra a HUGE plus.
Physical Requirements (if applicable):
· Ability to travel 50% or more.
· Physically able to be mobile and work safely in an industrial environment.
· Be conscious of safety rules and practices to protect against injury to self, others, machinery, and product.
· Utilize safety equipment that can be utilized outside the workplace.
Required Credentials:
· Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
· One to three years of engineering experience.
· Experience on a limited number of hardware platforms.
